How the Process Works

1. Apply: Candidates complete a short endorsement application to tell us about their campaign, their values, and their vision for Georgia. The application is simple and accessible, welcoming candidates of all backgrounds.
    

2. Review: Our Endorsements Committee, composed of YDG members and leaders, reviews all applications. We evaluate alignment with our mission and values, commitment to civic engagement, and demonstrated dedication to serving communities across Georgia.
    

3. Interview (if needed): Some candidates may be invited to meet with our Board of Directors. This allows us to learn more about your leadership style, campaign strategy, and how you plan reach and inspire young voters before and after election.     ​

4. Announcement & Support: Once endorsed, YDG proudly announces your candidacy across our platforms, connects you with our members, and provides opportunities for volunteers, grassroots support, and visibility throughout your campaign. Endorsements are a partnership, not just a logo—they represent shared values and a commitment to moving Georgia forward together.

Who is eligible for a YDG endorsement?

Any Democratic candidate running for office in Georgia—local, state, or statewide—is eligible, as long as they share YDG’s core values of democracy, justice, equality, and civic engagement. Candidates of all ages and backgrounds are welcome.

Do I need to be a current Young Democrat to be endorsed?

No! While YDG focuses on empowering young voters and leaders, we endorse any candidate committed to our values and fostering civic engagement.

What is the timeline for endorsements?

• Applications are accepted year-round, though candidates are encouraged to apply within 3 months of their first election date.

• Review and interviews typically take less than 6 weeks.

• Endorsements are publicly announced once approved by the YDG Board of Directors.
